ROUND TRACKING IMPROVEMENT
CHALLENGE:
A main function of MyTaylorMade+ is to help golfers track their round and get insightful stats afterword. Our shot-specific "Advanced" mode was in need of an update, and we were introducing a new, simpler tracking mode.

I owned UX and UI design for the app integration
STRATEGY
I audited the shot-tracking flow of Advanced mode and referenced app reviews and user stories to reduce the action-cost of the app and allow users to focus on their game. I leveraged the knowledge gained from the Advanced Mode audit to inform the UI and flow of Classic Mode.
Opportunity: The "Advanced" shot tracking UI had a major action-cost
Logging a shot took at least 3 taps. I took this opportunity to update the styling of the UI and introduce a roulette-style club-selector to speed-up the process of tracking your shots.
Adding the roulette gave users quick-access to their club of choice, and allowed for one-tap shot tracking.
In addition, we were able to auto-scroll the roulette to a club loft that was best-suited for the users' distance to the hole, essentially becoming a pocket-caddy.
Classic Mode. Simple hole-by-hole input with powerful game insights and stats
Designing the map interface was simpler than Advanced mode, since hole score input is done at the completion of each hole, rather than in-between every shot. This allows us to collect more hole data from our user while they are walking to the next hole.
Excitingly, in the past year Classic mode has almost DOUBLED the popular Advanced mode in rounds tracked.
